Plagiarism & Similarity Checking
Sangathya enforces strict similarity checks to protect research integrity. All submissions are screened using recognised similarity-checking tools and evaluated by editors.
Screening process
- Every submission is scanned on receipt; reports are reviewed by editors.
- Similarity reports exclude bibliography, properly quoted material, and commonly-used phrases; context is reviewed manually.
Similarity thresholds and actions
- ≤ 15%: Typically acceptable but reviewed for improper citation.
- 16–25%: Editor reviews detail; may require revision and resubmission with corrections and attribution.
- 25%: Triggers formal investigation and likely desk rejection unless the overlap is clearly justified (e.g., methods) and properly credited.
Handling third-party allegations
Third-party claims are acknowledged within 7 days. We aim to complete investigations within 2 weeks and provide the author 7 days to respond. If upheld, actions include retraction, removal, and notification to institutions and indexers.
Author responsibilities
Authors must ensure originality, provide necessary permissions for reused material, disclose duplicate or prior publication, and may submit their own similarity checks where available.
